Description

This flower is an annual wildflower native to California and this Lupine carpets whole hillsides along the Pacific coast. Golden Yellow Lupine seeds are very easy to germinate, but it is recommended to soak the seeds in warm water overnight before sowing them. Lupinus Densiflorus Aureus features lush foliage and produces tall spikes of majestic, golden-yellow, sweet-pea like flowers that bloom profusely in summer attracting hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. This annual is perfect for roadside and hillside planting, sunny borders in seaside landscapes or areas with marine influences; Golden Yellow Lupine adds a marvelous golden accent to partially shaded areas in warmer, dry-summer climates. The seeds can be started indoors or directly outdoors; the established Lupine grows best in drier soils with high acidity, sand content and good drainage, enjoying cool and moist coastal climates. Golden Yellow Lupine is a wonderful cut flower. Reaches 2-3' tall.

Water Saving Tip:

Water high water-use plants separately from low water-use plants.

Low water-use plants can grow with one-half the water needed by high water-use plants, and can be easily damaged from over watering.
