Penstemon davidsonii
Davidson's Beardtongue
Description
Huge, lavender-pink flowers held over its dark green, evergreen foliage combine to make this Davidson's Beardtongue a fantastic little garden shrub. Normally a finicky species, our selected form of Penstemon davidsonii (propagated by cuttings from one original plant), has proven itself to be easy-to-grow and long-lived in lean, well-drained soil. 8-10" tall x 12-15" wide. It does best in full sun in sandy soil. Pinkish purple flowers bloom from late spring through summer. Established plants are drought tolerant. Deer resistant. Attracts hummingbirds.

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs.
If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.
