Description

This perennial produces large clusters of glossy foliage that is deeply lobed. Its leaves may reach lengths of 2'. The tall, purplish-white flower spikes are usually seen in late spring to early summer. Can be presented as an accent plant. An effective shade loving herbaceous shrub. This perennial reaches 3-4' tall and wide. It does best in full sun in coastal areas or light shade (morning sun is OK) in inland valleys. It does best with regular watering. It will go dormant during summer if irrigation is stopped. Watch for snails and slugs.
