Description

Who doesn’t love the unique blooms and overall dramatic appearance of tall “Kangaroo Paws”? Much prized as a long-lived accent plant with low water needs, it’s just the best in well-drained gardens and containers (15+ gal). Loads of curious fuzzy golden-yellow “flowers” appear like curving fingers on perfectly contrasting, branching red stems to 4’ tall. Strappy evergreen 2-3’ foliage is held in “fans”. Each “fan” of leaves only blooms once, so cut used fans by two-thirds in winter to promote new ones. Blooming from late Spring to early Fall, cut spent spikes for awesome cut flowers and to keep the blooms coming. Bees and hummers! Deer resistant! Does best in full sun. Established plants are low water use.
