Leptospermum scoparium
New Zealand Tea Tree, Manuka
Description
This small tree will grow about 10' tall and wide. It grows about 2' per year. It has green thin leaves that are evergreen. Attractive pink, white or red flowers bloom in spring or summer, followed by brown capsules which fruit in the fall. This fruit can create litter. Bark can be light green, light gray or light brown which exfoliates over time. This tree does best in full or part sun, appreciating well draining, loam or sandy soil. Tolerant to coastal conditions. Attracts birds and bees but not deer. A great tree for front yard as long as litter doesn't spread to sidewalk.
