Common name:Society Garlic
Botanical name:Tulbaghia violacea

This clumping perennial will grow less than 1' tall and has narrow, blue green leaves. Clusters of lavender flowers bloom in spring and summer. Leaves and flowers have a distinct onion or garlic smell if crushed.

Sentinel Manzanita

Botanical name:Arctostaphylos densiflora 'Sentinel'

This Vine Hill Manzanita grows 6-8' high and 5-8' wide, has rose/white flowers, and is upright. Good soil drainage is essential.

Crimson Queen Japanese Maple

Common name:Crimson Queen Japanese Maple
Botanical name:Acer palmatum 'Dissectum Crimson Queen'

On this deciduous Acer, the foliage is very fine and double-lobed on the edges, showing bright, crimson red coloring. The low branching habit serves to create a delicate weeping effect.

Purple Fountain Grass

Botanical name:Pennisetum 'Rubrum'

This grass will reach 6' high and has deciduous, purplish red leaves with clusters of purple flowers that appear in summer and fall. Tall grasses are highly combustible.

Trailing Germander

Common name:Trailing Germander
Botanical name:Teucrium chamaedrys

This mini-shrub with small, shiny, dark green leaves on woody stems can be sheared and shaped. The stems trail and rise to 24", with lovely reddish- purple flowers between the upper leaves. It can be used as a low hedge plant in herbal knot gardens. To encourage branching, it should be pruned in the spring. -Holland WIldflower Farm
