This Texas native is found on gravelly limestone and rocky areas. Leaves are an open rosette form, fairly flat and sword-shaped, green in color with spines along the margins. This plant reaches 2' tall and 3' wide. Occasionally, this plant sends up a tall spike 12' tall with greenish yellow flowers. This marks the death of the plant but there are usually offspring close by. Plant in full to part sun with well draining soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established.

This versatile Agave is a solitary plant, growing quite large, with rosettes that can reach 7' across. Leaves are grayish white color with small marginal teeth. The leaf blade is short, wide and distinctively cupped, thus the common name, Whale's Tongue. This Agave looks great in a pot on a patio, under trees, with large boulders or planted with other succulents. It can take intense heat and cold. It grows moderately fast but prefers well drained soil.

This perennial grass reaches about 3' tall and wide. Leaves are glossy green with white variegation, shiny, firm, flat. Each cluster has a sharp, slender, straw-colored bract at its base, which gives it a dense spike-like structure. It does best in full to part sun with well draining soil. Apply fertilizer in spring. No pruning needed for this reliable and tough grass. Established plants are low water usage plants.

Moderate-growing shrubby evergreen perennial to 2-3′ tall x 2′ wide. Overall lavandula is revered for its delightful fragrant and useful foliage in sachets and potpourris. These are some of the most heat, humidity and water-wise lavenders available. The stunning creamy-green foliage is extremely aromatic due to high oil content. Pale blue flowers show in summer. A butterfly and bee magnet for sure! Very low water requirement. Great in rock gardens, bed borders or containers. Prefers full to partial sun exposure.

This is a striking medium-sized agave that can grow to 5' tall by 6-10' wide. This agave has very fine marginal teeth, and is sometimes spineless. Supplemental summer watering can prevent yellowing from heat stress in the summer. These plants are also moderately cold hardy, tolerant of temperatures down to 12f. More refined looking than americana. Prone to weevils. Native in Eastern central Mexico. One of the largest of the Agaves.-Mountain States Nursery
