Blue Yucca

Common name:Blue Yucca
Botanical name:Yucca rigida

Evergreen treelike yucca grows at a moderate rate to 12' x 5'. Distinctive, blue gray leaves have sharp tips. Striking bluish color makes it a great accent. White clusters of flowers appear on tall stalks late spring to summer. Accepts full sun. Native to the Chihuahuan Desert in Mexico.

Rock Purslane

Common name:Rock Purslane
Botanical name:Calandrinia grandiflora

This perennial will grow 12-36" and produces large blue/green rosettes that last for a long season. It produces large, silky, lavender/pink flowers that have lime/green, purple spotted calyces.

Finger Aloe

Common name:Finger Aloe
Botanical name:Cotyledon orbiculata var. oblonga

This striking succulent spreads slowly to form a dense carpet of silvery-gray finger-like foliage. The upright sturdy flower stems rise boldly 15-18" above the foliage. Clusters of bell-shaped salmon flowers dangle from the tip of the stem like an outrageously over-the-top candelabra! The plant branches from ground level, forming large clumps. The leaves are silvery-white to pale grey-green. With its spiky shaped leaves and silver-green color, this cotyledon lends its texture, shape and color to many garden situations.

Soils and Compost:

Maintain a two to four inch layer of mulch on the soil surface to reduce weeds, infiltrate rain water, and reduce compaction.

Integrated Pest Management:

Drip and other smart irrigation delivers water directly to roots, allowing no excess water for weeds.
