Morus alba 'Pendula' is a beautiful deciduous tree that reaches 6-10' tall and 8-12' wide. Flowers bloom in spring but are considered insignificant. Sweet, edible, blackberry-like fruit appear in June, ripening to a white, pink, purple or dark red fruit that is loved by birds. Leaves are dark green, serrated at the edges changing to yellow during fall. Fallen fruit may stain sidewalks. It does best in full sun with fertile, moist, well draining soil. Mature trees tolerate heat, drought and alkaline soil. This is a shallow rooted tree so do not plant in parking strip next to sidewalk. Prune in fall to maintain weeping look.
